Will I get a good settlement for my injuries if I work with the insurance company myself instead of getting a lawyer?

If you have significant, serious, life changing injuries, I would say no. I think that’s very difficult to get an insurance company to pay you a fair value that you can live with by fighting them alone. I think you need the advice of an attorney who can navigate the legal issues involved, can help you understand how much your case is truly worth, and can help you determine whether the insurance company is giving you the correct information or not. If you have a significant injury I would say almost always it is better to hire an attorney to help you. If you have a more minor injury and you also don’t feel the need to fight for long periods of time, I think it’s okay to try and fight them yourselves but I would say, most times, if you have an injury that’s significant enough to you to where it’s really effected your life, I would say that you need to get the assistance of an attorney.
