Matt received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English from Abilene Christian University. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from Baylor Law School, where he made the Dean’s List, the Order of the Barristers, and earned the highest grade in Advanced Criminal Practice & Procedure. His Bankruptcy Moot Court Team won the 2012 Elliot Cup, and he was a semi-finalist in the “Top Gun” Mock Trial Competition.
During his summers in law school, Matt interned for the Dallas County Public Defenders’ Office and interned for Judge Harlin Hale of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas.
Matt has significant experience litigating personal injury cases, including pharmaceutical and medical devices cases. Matt has also represented clients in ERISA violations, medical malpractice cases, premises liability cases, sexual assault cases, and motor vehicle accidents. In addition to his experience in Texas courts, Matt has appeared pro hac vice in California, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York.
Before joining Zehl & associates, Matt began his career at a prestigious Houston law firm, where he represented thousands of clients in multi-district litigation.
Matt lives in Houston, Texas with his wife, Anna, who also practices law in the same field.
